How to root an android device

Why to root?
Rooting your device get you rid of all the permissions that the company or operator have applied. You can customize your phone to a greater degree and you can speed up it in various ways.

How to root -
Rooting your device voids your warranty or can break down your device. I do not take any responsibility for break down of any device.
  • Keep backup of contacts, messages, etc before rooting
  • It will be better if you root your device when its warranty expires.
  • Keep USB debugging. In samsung galaxy s3, it is in Settings > Developers options

1) Rooting with z4root -
  • A new method and easy method to root your phone is by using z4root.
  • Just download the app and root.
  • This app is totally safe. If it fails or you went wrong, it'll will not harm the device but only will give message that device it not rooted.
  • Keep USB debugging mode on.
  • Install the apk, open it and click on root.
  • Download link- http://www.mediafire.com/download/itbgjqb2n6g1v5d/z4root.1.1.0.apk
2) Rooting by using cmw recovery-
  • Download cmw recovery file (.zip) for your device from this link- http://sh.st/qucYf
  • Put this file to your sd card.
  • Now switch off your device and then go to recovery mode by holding volume up + lock + home button simultaneously for 5 sec. Method for switching to recovery mode can be different for different devices.
  • Now, in recovery menu, select install update from sd card and choose cmw recovery file.
  • This will root your device.
 3) Rooting by using computer-
I have tested this method on SGS3. First check whether your device is compatible to cf-root or not.
  • Install odin to your laptop. Download link- http://sh.st/qtwdA
  • Download zip file of cmw-
  •  Now install odin in your pc and open it.
  • Connect your device to pc. It will get added to odin. Be sure that drivers of your device are already installed on your pc.
  • Now place the cf-root file in place of pda. Link for cf-root- http://sh.st/quvtL
  • Do not check re-partition.
  • Click on start to root your device. Your device is successfully rooted if green label occurs below your device name in Odin.

    1. Make sure your phone drivers are installed on the computer (Samsung Kies). Then follow the steps:

      1. Enable USB Debugging.
2.In Superoneclick 1.7, check regeagainstthecage then click on the 'Root' button. After a few seconds, it'll say 'Waiting for device'.
      3. Connect the phone to the computer using the USB Cable.
      4. Superoneclick will detect the phone.
      5. Now the phone will be rooted.(don't touch while it is going on.)
      6. After rooting, download and install busybox on your phone.(get it from market)

If you run into any problems then, follow the instruction s given below

      If the program stucks here:
      Running rageagainstthecage...
      or
      getting mount path...

      Do this:
      1. If touchwiz is the default launcher, set it.
      2. Reboot your phone
3.Try to root again following the above instructions
(It should be pass Running rageagainstthecage...)

      Restart phone, and try again.

      It should work now.
